On Target New Zealand

People Power

Hi Everyone

I'm pleased to announce the launch date for our book 'People Power' which will be 11am Friday 30th July at The Springs, Great North Road, (opp Motions Road & the Auckland Zoo) Western Springs, Auckland. There's plenty of parking there as well. If you can make it I would really look forward to meeting as many of you as possible.

We have had some excellent feedback from our recent push to get people to visit the website and email Members of Parliament. We ran adverts in the Sunday Star Times and faxads throughout NZ for a number of weeks and many of you forwarded my 'Open letter to NZ' to friends and family. Many of you also offered to deliver the 30,000 flyers we had printed, throughout NZ.

I have just updated the standard MP email on our website to encourage more discussion and debate from MP's. Please have a look at it and send every MP an email (www.votersvoice.org.nz/%7Evoters/mail/massmailerMPs.cgi) even if you have done it in the past. We have to keep the pressure on. Better still, put pen to paper and write to your local MP and the leaders of the various parties. It has more effect than an email but of course it means more effort on your part! Just write to C/- Parliament Buildings, Wellington. You don't even need a stamp!

You might be interested to know that opponents of Venezuela President Hugo Chavez collected enough signatures to force a referendum presidential election. The election will be held in August, electoral officials announced on Thursday at the end of four days of counting referendum signatures. The officials found Chavez opponents had collected more than the 2.4 million names needed to legally force a vote. For months the campaign for a referendum remained in limbo as allegations of signature fraud prevented officials from determining if indeed there should be a vote. If they can do it in Venezuela then why can't we do it in New Zealand!!!

I recently had an interesting conversation with National MP John Key at an Auckland investment conference where he was speaking. He asked for questions at the end of his speach so I gave him both barrels. Judging by the look on many peoples faces I think I had the better of him. I spoke to him afterwards as well for some time and he found it very hard to argue against my comments especially when I was able to counter every pathetic excuse he was able to think up. I do believe National might support BCIR on Conscience issues and Constitutional changes but at the end of the day they don't want to be answerable to you or me so won't fully support BCIR. They only want us to have a say when they think we should have one and when we can't do them any damage?!

I also have meetings with a couple of other MP's in the coming weeks.

Do what you can to help push the cause for BCIR... if you don't do anything then don't expect much because one man can only do so much.....

Best wishes
