COMMUNISTS WIN CONTROL OF AEU

THE REV. ALAN WALKER'S DEFEATISM

Prominent Methodist spokesman the Rev. Alan Walker, continues his role of undermining Australian resistance to the Communist colonial aggressor. At this week's meeting of the Australian Council of Churches, whose new President is Dr. Frank Woods, Anglican Archbishop of Melbourne, Mr. Walker criticised the Australian Government for concentrating only on defence. While admitting Indonesian responsibility for the immediate peace threat to Australia's North, his "alternative" to permitting a Communist walkover is to disarm and call in the UN.

That greatest of all teachers, whom Mr. Walker is supposed to follow, said, "By their fruits ye shall know them." Mr. Walker may not be aware of the fruits of UN intervention in, for example, the Congo.

We recommend to his notice "46 ANGRY MEN" (available from The Heritage Bookshop, 10/8, post free), the report of the 46 civilian doctors of Elizabethville for a first hand exposure of the results of intervention by the UN. Mr. Walker's reaction to this book, complete with revealing photographs, might help to indicate whether his support of World Socialism is due to ignorance or to conscious acceptance of a Satanic doctrine.

AN AUSTRALIAN PATRIOT SPEAKS OUT

The Age (Melbourne) of February 20, reports the refreshing ultimatum from Sir Wilfrid Kent-Hughes to the Prime Minister, Sir Robert Menzies: "Sir Wilfrid Kent-Hughes, M.P., has threatened to withdraw his support from the Government unless it halts sales of wheat and wool to China and the supply of telecommunication equipment for Indonesian airfields."
Sir Wilfrid stated in a letter to the Prime Minister that "Unless you abandon this policy I cannot continue to support the Government. But I am also sure that I was not elected to Parliament by Australians to approve of a policy which assists aggressors to kill Australians in the front line."

This 'distinguished and courageous patriot deserves wholehearted support and encouragement.

WORLD PRESS ASSISTS MAO TSE-TUNG

Preceded by a fanfare of trumpets, The Age this week featured an "exclusive" interview of the Chinese Communist leader, Mao Tse-tung, by Edgar Snow "expert" on Chinese affairs. The Snow interview has also been appearing in other daily papers throughout the world. This has ensured that Snow got the maximum coverage for his whitewash of the Chinese Communist murderer.

There is no doubt why Snow obtained this "exclusive" interview. He has consistently supported the Chinese Communist cause in his books. "Red Star Over China" and "People On Our Side". The people "on our side" are of course the Russian and Chinese Communists.

Snow's reviews for "The Saturday Evening Post" (U.S.A.) were unanimous in their glowing praise of books by exposed Communist writers on China such as Owen Lattimore and Agmes Smedley. In 1952 the U.S. Senate Internal Security Sub committee described Lattimore as "a conscious articulate instrument of the Soviet conspiracy." Snow himself has twice been named as a Communist in U.S. Senate inquiries.

COMMUNIST DIALECTICS

According to the Communist "law" of dialectics, all true progress comes through the violent clash of opposites. Even internal Communist controversies are essential to discover the correct tactics to meet any situation. The Age of February 16 reported messages exchanged between Moscow and Peking. The Chinese said that "the strengthening and reinforcement of the great Sino-Soviet alliance favours the struggle against our common enemy - American imperialism". The Russians declared that "relations between the two countries and parties were based on the principles of Marxism-Leninism".

But we are afraid that the dupes of Communist dialectics will continue to parrot that the "split" between Moscow and Peking proves that International Communism is disintegrating.

THE MENACE OF CENTRALISED POWER

Referring to the N.S.W. airlines dispute, The Age in its editorial of February 19 said that "The most obvious way to settle this ridiculous dispute would be for the Federal Government, which meets most of the public cost of all forms of civil aviation, to be given the complete authority it sought".

Correction: The people of Australia meet all the costs of Australian Civil Aviation. Because they represent smaller areas and are closer to the electors, State Governments are more responsive to pressures seeking to correct abuses of power. State Members and State Officials compare favourably with Federal Members and Federal officials. People and industries can always withdraw to other States when power abuses become too intolerable in any one State. This is the most effective check on total tyranny. For this reason the Communists applaud all moves to concentrate power. The Age editorial would have complete Communist support.

MR. CHAIRUL SALEH OF INDONESIA

When President Soekarno was in Vienna last year for his critical kidney operation, he nominated one Chairul Saleh to act as Indonesian President in his absence. There is little doubt that Soekarno sees Saleh as his Presidential successor. Who is Saleh? According to The Australian in an editorial of January 28, "It is quite possible that President Soekarno will be succeeded by some form of coalition between relatively moderate political leaders, typified by Mr. Charul Saleh, and the Army".

The Australian, which likes to pontificate as a reliable authority on international affairs, apparently is not aware that the "relatively moderate" Mr. Chairul Saleh is leader of what he terms the "national Communist" movement, that he was trained by the famous Communist leader Tan Malaka, and that he is bitterly anti-Western and pro-Russian. Saleh would have to rely upon Communist Aid and his PKI if he wished to become President.

AS DOUGLAS WILKIE SEES IT

Under the heading, "As I See It", Mr. Douglas Wilkie presents daily to hundreds of thousands of Australians his "authoritative" commentaries on international affairs. He is the most widely-read columnist on international affairs in Australia, and invariably manages to give his smooth comments a twist which help feed that general feeling of pessimism and cynicism so prevalent amongst large numbers of Australians today. Writing in The Sun, Melbourne (and other Australian dailies) on February 23, Mr. Wilkie comments:
"In politically seething Brazil, where agents of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency must be outnumbered by those of a dozen other nationalities, it recently fell on three luckless Chinese to be singled out by the Government as 'subversives', and flung into gaol." The three "luckless Chinese" were, as we pointed out last week, trained Communist agents assisting local terrorist groups while masquerading as members of a "trade" delegation.

Mr. Wilkie is lending his great influence to furthering a world wide anti-Brazil campaign sponsored by Peking. He sees too much of the world situation through red coloured glasses.

VIET CONG PROPAGANDA IN AUSTRALIA

The Communist weekly, The Tribune (Sydney) of February 3, carries a most significant item concerning "Committee for Peace in Vietnam" meeting in Sydney. This organisation is, of course, a Communist front. The Tribune lists Mr. Alex McDonald, Secretary of the Queensland Trades and Labor Council, a prominent Communist leader, as one of the speakers for the Sydney meeting.
McDonald was recently in Hanoi in Communist dominated North Vietnam.

Because Western Governments encourage the fiction that the world is enjoying "peaceful co-existence", Communists can move around the world freely, constantly supporting the various forms of Communist warfare. The Tribune report referred to states that Viet Cong films are being imported and shown in Australia. While Australians are supposed to be helping the South Vietnamese to defeat the Communist Viet Cong, the enemy is permitted to show his propaganda films in Australia. And yet there are many Australians, who regard themselves as well-informed, who hotly dispute that there is any internal threat from the Communist conspiracy in Australia.
