The Queensland Elections and the Australian League of Rights

The above is a sample of the desperate attempted smearing of The League of Rights by a Queensland Labor member who has grasped the truth that the Queensland elections are more in the nature of a growing groundswell of support for Premier J. Bjelke-Petersen is being generated by a massive grass-roots campaign in which League of Rights supporters are playing a major role. As a non-party organisation, the League of Rights has no special brief for any political party. The claim by Mr Keogh, that the League of Rights has taken over the Queensland Country Party, forcing it to change its name is so absurd that no comment is necessary. As for National Socialism, it is Mr Keogh's own party which is the main exponent in Australia of the philosophy of national socialism.

The League of Rights is no uncritical supporter of Premier Bjelke-Petersen, but he is the one non-Socialist political leader who has refused to compromise with the Canberra centralisers... He is the only non-socialist political leader to give a constructive lead on the crucial inflation issue. The League does not believe that the "Petersen Plan" - a tax freeze, drastic reduction or abolition of Sales Tax, and restoration of consumer subsidies on basic items in the economy - would solve all Australia's economic problems. But it would be a major step in the right direction, away from the disaster now threatening what remains of Australian freedom. And for that reason the League of Rights has openly advocated that Mr. Bjelke-Petersen be given every possible support.

As we have observed previously, the Queensland Liberal Party leader, Sir Gordon Chalk, sees the Queensland elections as a last opportunity to become State Premier. He has openly criticised the firm anti-Canberra line of the Premier. This is just what Prime Minister Whitlam has wanted. Mr. Whitlam has personally entered the campaign because he and his backers clearly understand the real nature of the contest. He knows that the Queensland ALP cannot win, but he feels that if he can isolate the Queensland Premier, there is the possibility that his majority might be kept at its present level. He realises that a massive electoral support in Queensland for Premier Bjelke-Petersen and his policies must have far-reaching national implications. Federal Country Party leader Mr. Doug Anthony is well aware of League of Rights strategy, which is not going to be diverted from its major objective by the fact that some Country Party (National) candidates are neither informed nor able, and that some of Premier Bjelke -Petersen's own Cabinet colleagues do not endorse his anti-inflationary policy. A major victory for the Premier' s team means in fact an endorsement of his stand. Such a victory will place Mr. Bjelke -Petersen in an undisputed position of leadership in Queensland, while applying pressure to Federal Liberal and Country party leaders to follow his lead against inflation.

The hysterical Keogh attack on the League of Rights, along with similar other attacks, is a manifestation of the realisation that through all the years of anti-League smearing, the League of Rights has grown in strength as it builds a grass-roots movement based on education in depth. Good Australians have seen through the anti-League campaign and have come to realise that the League offers the only hope for a free Australia.

MR. NICHOLAS WHITLAM AND THE PETROV AFFAIR

We find it interesting that Mr. Nicholas Whitlam, son of Australia's Socialist Prime Minister, should be associated with this type of work. Mr. Nicholas Whitlam took a degree at Harvard University and at present is the London-based vice-president of the Morgan Guaranty Trust Company of New York. We wonder if he is familiar with the history of the Company he represents. The famous British-Born research expert, Antony Sutton, author of National Suicide, documents the following in his new work Wall Street and The Bolsheviks. Between 1914 and 1917, Guaranty Trust was "directly involved in the implementation of German espionage and other activities in the United States," Guaranty Trust was associated with the financing of the Bolshevik Revolution. One of the Morgan partners, Walter Lamont, together with William Boyce Thompson. a director of the Federal Reserve Board and financial supporter of Lenin and Trotsky, who persuaded the British Cabinet in 1917 to change its anti-Bolshevik policy. When in 1922 the Soviet Union formed its first international bank, Ruskombank, Mr. Max May vice-president of Guaranty Trust, became director of the Foreign Division of Ruskombank.

As Mr. Nicholas Whitlam is so interested in history, we suggest that he might turn his talents to an examination of the truth about the international conspiracy against Civilisation, and the role of those international financial groups with which he is associated.

BRIEF COMMENTS

A news item from the USA states: "The White House has declared that the United States is in an economic recession." That must be one of the understatements of the year.

Mr. Jim Spigelman, once described by Mr. Gough Whitlam as his Dr. Kissinger, continues as the principal private secretary to the Prime Minister, He is one of Mr. Whitlam's closest advisers. Mr. Spigelman is an ardent Zionist.

Mr. Gough Whitlam has had such a nasty fright given to him by the plummeting of the Australian economy that he doesn't intend to be "caught short" again: so he thinks. He is out to save himself first, and then the Government by means of the monetary measures which he announced in Parliament recently. We don't think he will succeed; and consider that the Whitlam Government is in its last months. We are of the opinion that unemployment will grow to heights even greater than the Socialists fear: an unemployment rate of 7-8% by Easter next year would not surprise us. According to newspaper reports Mr. Whitlam is" leaning" on the Governor of the Reserve Bank (Sir John Phillips) and the Permanent Head of the Treasury (Sir Frederick Wheeler) to smarten up. Poor Frank Crean was well and truly in the Treasury's pocket, and was not tough enough to be the meat in the sandwich between Treasury and the Whitlam-Caims power-machine. If the Treasury had had its way, deflation would have been clamped on the economy, and there would already, most probably, have been an unemployment rate of 5%. Politically, of course, this is quite out of the question; so the treasury has to be snapped into line. Good servant Crean didn't have what it takes; so tough Marxist Cairns was given the job (which he always wanted, despite his dialectical disavowals.)

Mr. Whitlam thinks that he will have greater control over the fortunes of Australia, politically and economically, if he heads the Treasury Priorities Review Staff: its policy-making arm. What this will come to mean will be an even greater growth of inflation than would normally obtain with the
Treasury brakes applied.
