11 February 2005. Thought for the Week: What
does the following remind you of? "Under the Saite kings, foreigners
poured into Egypt and formed a growing number of permanent colonies.
Many of these groups were no longer poor men - economic refugees - forming
a category of second-class citizens who could be used for unskilled
labour, as in the past. These immigrant colonies were often richer and
more skilled than the native Egyptians: the proud kingdom of the 'Two
Lands' was now technically backward compared to the rising cultures
of the first millennium B.C. Indeed, the Saite kings, to raise taxes,
even awarded privileges - forerunners of later 'capitulations' - to
foreigners. At Naucratis, Greek traders were allowed a city of their
own; a Greek-style polis, where Greek law, customs and religion flourished:
not essentially unlike the older colonies of Magna Graecia now scattered
about the Mediterranean coasts. Thus trade, once a royal monopoly, fell
into alien hands. It was only a matter of time before the rest of the
country became booty."

DEMOCRACY ON ITS DEATH BED?by James Reed Democracy, he argues, is slowly but surely being
replaced by a form of global governance by a trans-national bureaucracy.
Common to this bureaucracy is the ideology of human rights which is
determined by international law. International institutions such as
the UN and the International Criminal Court administer the international
agreements and laws. The system does not technically constitute world
government, but is effectively world government by the back door. The
authority of nation states are "increasingly circumscribed by the
growing strength of the global institutions, laws, rules, networks and
ideological norms." |
THE EMERGENCE OF A SOCIAL DYNAMICby Betty Luks He grasped that there is such a power, but it is based on knowledge and understanding - and the exercising of that power. And it was hoped the revelation and understanding of this truth would lead to a rebirth of those spiritual realities which underlay the greatest achievements of our race, our people, our culture. If only they could realise the fact, the truth, that inherent in any association of people coming together for an agreed purpose (if its individual members pool their individual resources and power) the increments, the benefits, deriving from that association are far greater than any member could ever achieve individually. "Of course," I can hear you say, "anybody
knows that! That's as plain as the nose on your face! That's not a new
concept!" Douglas wrote on democracy and the policies of
the people - not parties. "It is the power, he continued, "to
choose or refuse one thing at a time. It is the power to choose whether
you will play cricket or whether you will play golf, or whether you
will play neither. Quite emphatically it is not the power of the non-player
to change the rules of cricket or golf; that is not freedom, that it
tyranny." In the above article, James Reed highlights the way our parliamentary representatives have changed the rules. IT IS NOT THEIR PLACE TO CHANGE THE RULES! IT IS ONLY ON THE CONSTITUTIONAL AUTHORITY OF THE PEOPLE OF AUSTRALIA CAN THE RULES BE CHANGED!!! But nothing is going to happen, the direction of this nation is not going to be turned around UNTIL the people of Australia take their representatives to task AND INSIST ON THEM KNOWING WHAT IS THEIR WILL AND MAKING THEIR PAID REPRESENTATIVES ACT UPON IT AND GET RESULTS. THIS DEMOCRACY AND THE TELSTRA CAMPAIGNThis real democracy is concerned with the root
of power, and it is the power drawn from the elector's will! It is the
common ground where we meet our fellow Australian. It is in our aspirations,
our objectives, our ruling policy that we find unity. It is in the application of the real dynamic - the instruction of the parliamentary representative what is the will of the elector on a certain issue, with the insistence he represent the elector's interests in the matter that real democracy can be claimed to exist. If this demand for what people do, in fact, want, can be demonstrated, if the desire can be acted upon sufficiently urgently and forcefully, through the right channel which has been built, over many centuries, for the true and proper demand to be acted upon then does freedom and democracy become real! That is real democracy! Although your parliamentary representative now thinks he is there to represent the will of his political Party Whip, he needs to be disabused, i.e., freed from such an erroneous belief of such a false notion! And the Telstra issue, if acted upon by enough electors, is one issue which will demonstrate the above truths more than mere words ever can! Telstra must remain an asset of the Australian people! But for this to happen, each and every elector reading this article must exercise his own authority and power and inform his Local, State and Federal government Representative, especially his own State Senators, it is his will they come against any moves to sell off the remaining shares, which are in fact the assets of the Australian people! Thanks to one of our most prolific letter writers, Ron Fischer now of Sebastapool, Victoria we know 75 per cent of the people surveyed by the Herald Sun newspaper 21st January, 2005, are opposed to the sale. Ron immediately wrote to Senator J.M. Troeth informing the good senator, not only did 75 per cent of the Victorians surveyed oppose the sale of Telstra, but so did he, and reminded him of his constitutional duty. NOW'S THE TIME TO EXERCISE YOUR FREEDOMIncluded with this week's On Target is a list of the Federal Senators; parliamentarians who are responsible to the people of their own States. If you believe that Telstra belongs to the Australian people and that the current government has no right to sell it off to a foreign company, then you must exercise you constitutional authority and inform your state senators of what you want!We cannot exercise your freedom for you! You must do that! The alternative is that someone else will do it for you and that is servitude. |
ENDLESS WARby James Reed During the inaugural parade Bush flashed a "hook 'em horns" sign. The hand sign is the traditional Horns football salute. In Norway, the sign is considered that of the devil; in Russia a sign of the "New Russians" - the newly rich and poorly educated and in Mediterranean countries the sign implies that a man is a cuckold. Which description best fits Bush? |
PROFESSOR'S 'IN YOUR FACE' COMMENTS TO AMERICAN PEOPLEOnce in a while there comes along an article or report which 'hits you between the eyes' because it causes such an emotional and/or mental shock. The following article by one Michelle York of the New York Times is just one such report. While it is directed to the American people, because of John Howard toadying to the Bush regime, we cannot ignore what he is saying. "University of Colorado at Boulder professor who became the target of widespread outrage after he called the Sept. 11 victims "little Eichmanns" has resigned as chairman of that school's ethnic studies department, though he will continue to teach there. The professor, Ward Churchill, is still invited to take part in a discussion Thursday at Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y., despite widespread protest that has been building since news of his visit became public. "We have a real test of freedom of expression here," said Hamilton's president, Joan Hinde Stewart, who has maintained that she finds the comparison "personally repugnant." Take the beam out of our own eyes first Yesterday, Mr. Churchill said by phone he had
received many death threats and plans to spend today having an updated
will notarised. Comment: The self-righteous are out in
force protesting at what the college professor has said. At a dinner
banquet of New York State Conservative Party members, Governor Pataki
said, "There's a difference between freedom of speech and inviting
a bigoted terrorist supporter." |
SCOTT RITTER - CRIMINALS THE LOT OF USThere is no doubt in Scott Ritter's mind that "The invasion of Iraq was a crime of gigantic proportions, for which politicians, the media and the public share responsibility." The Guardian (UK) 27/1/2005. He writes: "The White House's acknowledgement last month that the United States has formally ended its search for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq brought to a close the most calamitous international deception of modern times. This decision was taken a month after a contentious presidential election in which the issue of WMD and the war in Iraq played a central role. In the lead-up to the invasion, and throughout its aftermath, President Bush was unwavering in his conviction that Iraq had WMD, and that this posed a threat to the US and the world. The failure to find WMD should have been his Achilles heel, but the Democratic contender, John Kerry, floundered, changing his position on WMD and Iraq many times. When one looks at the situation in Iraq today, the only way that it would be possible to justify the current state of affairs - a once secular society now the centre of a global anti-American Islamist jihad, tens of thousands of civilians killed, an unending war that costs almost £3.2bn a month, and the basic principles of democracy mocked through an election process that has generated extensive violence - is if the invasion of Iraq was for a cause worthy of the price. The threat to international peace and security
represented by Iraqi WMD seemed to be such a cause. We now know there
were no WMD, and thus no justification for the war. And yet there are
no repercussions. The culpability for the war can be traced to those
same Senate hearings in 2002, when Colin Powell said: "We can have
debates about the size of the stockpile ... but no one can doubt two
things. Politicians, the mainstream media and the public
alike accepted this line of argument, without debate, thus setting the
stage for an illegal war. There was never any serious effort undertaken by the Bush administration to find Iraqi WMD. Prior to the invasion, the US military re-designated an artillery brigade as an "exploitation task force" designed to search for WMD as the coalition advanced into Iraq. It did little more than serve as a vehicle for its embedded reporter, Judith Miller of the New York Times, to recycle fabricated information provided by Ahmed Chalabi and the Iraqi National Congress, creating dramatic headlines that had no substance. Once Iraq was occupied, Miller was sent home, and the taskforce disbanded. A new organisation was created, the CIA-led Iraq survey group (ISG), led by David Kay. His job was not to find WMD but to spin the data for the political benefit of the White House. He hinted at dramatic findings, only to suddenly reverse course once Saddam Hussein was captured. Kay told us that everyone had got it wrong on WMD, that it was no one's fault. He was replaced by Charles Duelfer, whose task was to extend the WMD cover-up for as long as possible. Duelfer was very adept at this, having done similar work while serving as the deputy executive chairman of the UN weapons inspection effort. I witnessed him manipulate reports to the security council, rejecting all that didn't sustain his (and the US government's) foregone conclusion that Iraq had WMD. As the head of the ISG, he was called upon to again manipulate the data. As it was virtually impossible to conjure up WMD stockpiles where none existed, he did the next best thing - he re-certified Colin Powell's pre-war assertion that Saddam Hussein had the "intent" to re-acquire WMD. Duelfer provided no evidence to support this supposition. In fact, the available data seems to reject the notion of "intent". But once again, politicians, the mainstream media and the public at large failed to let facts get in the way of assertions. A 'viable' alibi Scott Ritter was a senior UN weapons inspector in Iraq between 1991 and 1998. |
THEIR GOVERNMENT AT WORK? FOR WHOM?According to the WorldNetDaily.com: 30/1/2005.
Once one of the most generous systems in Europe,
Germany's unemployment program has been reformed to require those out
of work to take jobs for which they are qualified, or lose benefits.
In the case of women, females below the age of 55 who have been out
of work for a year or more must take any available job offered. One 25-year-old waitress, an unemployed information technology professional, had indicated a willingness to work in a bar at night and had past experience working in a cafe. A potential employer, finding her profile promising, contacted the job centre about hiring her. Only after the young woman called to inquire about the job did she learn the employer was a brothel. When she refused the position, she was threatened with cuts to her unemployment benefits. Centres that do not penalize job seekers who
refuse offered positions are subject to lawsuits by the employers. New laws permit sex-oriented employers to advertise
in the job centres and provide for the suing of job centres that refuse
to accept their ads. The German experience closely follows that of
the Netherlands, according to the Coalition Against Trafficking in Women.
Following the 2000 legalization of prostitution by the Dutch and the
registration of prostitutes, brothels began using official job centres
to find new employees. Last year, the German federal government announced that it would be fining employers that failed to hire trainees - a measure to be applied to brothels as well as other employers. Brothels failing to hire one apprentice for every 15 employees will be fined for failing to promote the sex industry. Germany legalized prostitution in 2002 in the belief it would slow down the trafficking in women and reduce the role of organized crime in the profession. Instead, government is expanding the sex industry by guaranteeing a steady stream of new recruits, some willing and some not." |

STOP PRESS!!! CANADIAN SOCIAL CREDITERS COMING TO ADELAIDERepresentatives from the French-Canadian social credit "Michael" movement will be in Adelaide early March and we have organised a meeting for them. We want to hear what developments have come from their Convention which was held late last year. Representatives from many, many countries attended to learn more about Social Credit. After all, all that most of these people can lose is their abject poverty! Pierre Marchildon will give us a report on the developments that have since taken place. We heard one report that 80, yes 80, bishops of the Church had come together in one of the Latin countries to look at Social Credit. It is a very exciting development. The meeting will take place at the Public Schools' Club, 207 East Terrace (Cnr. Carrington) Adelaide. The date for the meeting is: Thursday, 3rd March, 2005. We will have the usual dinner with the speaker later addressing the audience. Bookings made by phoning: 8296 4704 |
