STAND UP TO BE COUNTED – OR GET TO BLAZES OUT OF THE PICTURE

We are all thankful the loss of life was minimal due to the recent cyclone in north Queensland, but think the following report needs as much ‘air-space’ as possible:
This is sent to you with a sincere wish for you to personally read it and become representative once more. Reports such as this, are rolling in by the dozen -- it is no wonder the people of Australia are getting sore at our political and public servant sectors. Stand up -- make some noise and shake the system around a little --- or get to blazes out of the picture. Australia needs to regain its famous independence and true Australian spirit. So let's hear from you -- we don't want any more of the droning announcements about going forward -- we want action!

There have been some amazingly great stories come out of the floods. But there are also the ones which will never be told because in this country we tolerate idiots in government jobs and no one wants to point the finger in case it somehow blows up in their face. Sorry, but at my age, I have become totally disenchanted and someone needs to tell it like it is, so I will start the ball rolling. Please join with me to lift the lid on idiots with uniforms.

Take Qld Transport: In Dalby district:
1. Dalby hit the news with a record flood in the Condamine River which damaged the water treatment plant. Water needed to be trucked into town in the middle of the flood. Truck drivers worked hard to get us water. Officers from Qld. Transport booked drivers for so-called overloading - what Idiots. Who pays? It'll get squashed and probably has already, but what a waste of resources at a time when manpower was critical.

2. Some farmers, who were crossing a road with a tractor to feed starving, flooded stock were pulled up, the tractor measured, and they were booked because it was slightly wide. Not only that, they were forced to leave the tractor and go to town to get an over-wide permit before they could move it back into the farm. This happened on an already closed road where the farmer was the only person around. Except for the idiots! These are not rumours. They are facts.

3. This morning, I was booked for driving down a closed road to check livestock which were reported to be out on the road, and, at the same time, pick up my employee who had walked over the bridge to come to work. My house happens to be 50 metres past the ‘road closed’ sign, so apparently I cannot even go in and out my gate. I tried to reason amicably with two idiots. Of course I got more than a little agitated when they refused to let me down the road to my farm. As a result, they pulled a tape recorder, so I made sure it recorded their stupidity. I even had to insist they returned my driver’s licence. I'll definitely win the court battle as my employee witnessed the whole affair. But what a waste of time and resources.

4. Over the last 3 weeks, there have been Qld. Transport officers stationed outside our farm, booking innocent locals. For about 8 days, two blokes sat in a vehicle with the engine idling and hazard lights on 24/7. That would be 3 shifts, plus motel and other costs. Now most of these blokes were reasonable people. I had to chat with them every time I went out my gate. Some were idiots like my experience this morning. But the real idiots in this case are the people who sent them out here to guard an obviously flooded and closed road and never bothered to check when the water went down; just left them there. We, the taxpayers, pay them to be there and also pay fines for trying to get on with our lives in tough times.

5. I wrote the above in the hour before I went to Brisbane to help clean up the mess in our flooded premises there. While in Brisbane, I was told a true story about the truck drivers delivering food to Gympie. As happens in times of desperate need, trucks rolled out of the Brisbane warehouses stacked with as much as they could get in. After all, the media was screaming for food for Gympie. Queensland Transport then intercepted the trucks and fined the drivers for overloading. What Senior Idiot in Qld Transport decided he could solve Queensland’s financial crisis by fining drivers? They sent dozens of men out to embarrass the Government when they could have been helping people in need.

6. Also, did you hear about the farmer who was ferrying food and other essentials for himself and neighbours across the flooded Condamine? Well, the SES and Police decided it was their job. Apparently it is illegal for us farmers to even launch our boats to help ourselves or rescue our livestock. So they sent him home after warning him that if he continued to help, they would prosecute. As he was putting his boat back on his trailer on the other side of the river, he heard horns blowing and looked back to where he had been sent away from.
There were the professional idiots, in the middle of the river, sinking. So, as we normal citizens are stupid, he had to re-launch his boat and go back and rescue them. Apparently they had forgotten to put the plugs in the bottom of the boat and their training had not taught them how to simply put them in after they discovered it and then how to bail the boat out. He should have let them drown. That would be called "natural selection". But again, they had been sent out with an attitude rather than real training. So who is at fault? Need I answer that?

Many, many great deeds by the vast majority of the people:
As I said at the start, there have been many, many great deeds by the vast majority of people, but when a society gets to the point where ordinary people are stopped from helping each other and are forced into submission by bureaucrats, then I ask, ‘Where are we going?’ Please add your stories and keep this going. Somehow, we have to reverse the stupidity which makes our nation the dumbest in the modern world. Our great grandfathers would be appalled.

LIBERAL COSMOPOLITANISM AND THE CONSTITUTION

Here I will flesh out in more detail my critique of the High Court of Australia, made in my brief discussion note, “The “Volcanic” High Court of Australia” (O.T. Vol.47 No4). The problem as I see it is that across the common law world either the High Court or the country’s Supreme Court has assumed powers and interpreted the-ir Constitution in ways that would astonish the Founding Fathers of the Constitution.
For example, the US Supreme Court in Roe v Wade found in the Constitution rights to abortion. In Australia our own High Court for the entire duration of its existence has handed down decisions contrary to the original spirit of the Constitution. States’ rights have been wound back to the point that a federal system as envisaged in 1901 no longer exists. There are clear indications that the same process will be done using international law to erode the nation State.

The Courts have proceeded by rejecting “originalism” or “interpretivism”; the view that judges must decide cases in accordance with the intention of the framers, where possible. This constitutional philosophy places restraints upon judges who otherwise would go on a “frolic” on their own and decide cases on the basis of their own personal preferences.
On this view the “living force” or progressivist position, the Constitution has to be read in terms of values and ruling ideologies of today. Justice Michael Kirby generally seemed to adopt this view in my reading of his constitutional judgments.

Progressivism in constitutional law, ultimately degenerates into Liberal cosmopolitan politics, where judges attempt to interpret and reconstruct the common law to fit the political prejudices of the day. These ideologies are almost always flawed being the foul products of the left. But even so, being new and trendy the doctrines are not sound and wise like principles which have stood the test of time. Originalism gives us a conservative compass point in the shifting world of legal opinions and is to preferred to the neurotic values of the Left.  

MY DISAPPOINTMENT WITH THE ATTITUDE OF SOME MALES

I have been pondering on the report in last week’s On Target of Sanjit "Bunker" Roy’s own experience of the different attitudes of men and women of remote village communities. He is instrumental in the training of selected women from these communities in order for them to set up their own solar-power units back in their villages, thus giving them solar light for their simple homes and power for cooking. What did he say that stayed with me? “Women are the focus for the solar power projects that the Barefoot College runs because men were very untrainable. (Men) were restless, compulsively mobile, and they all want a certificate and the moment you give them a certificate they leave the village and go to the cities looking for jobs. So why not invest in women, older women, mature women, gutsy women who have roots in the village and train them."

One would have thought that the men also had their roots in the village, in their own families, and would be just as eager to develop family and village life for the benefit of all. How on earth do they think any family is sustained and communities developed in the first place?
A number of years ago, Geoffrey Dobbs noted that modern man lives on a thin crust of technology and urbanised young people generally lack basic life skills. Sure, they know how to use their mobiles and ipods and play computer games – even ‘play’ at farming on their computers, but are quite useless when it comes to everyday basic life-skills. What will happen to them should the systems suddenly fail?

The grandmothers of the Third World, training in Sanjit Roy’s Barefoot College and taking the knowledge back to their own communities, have provided us with a fine example of what can be done.

Labor’s Solar Panel Scam: Lou Cook of Nurmurkah, Victoria sent us the following report:
“Just been reading On Target and a big cheer and bravo to the Grandmothers. I attended several persuasive meetings about the government rollout of solar panels on domestic dwellings and it went over BIG around here but I declined the opportunity to participate with my dollars. In answer to a question I learned that if the "grid" was down the solar panels on your house were also down... in other words your use of the generated power was dependent on the grid in operation... what a scam!

If I install solar panels then I want the power generated available without relying on the grid system but the promised subsidy did not extend that far... all MUST be dependent on the centralised system. So much for GREEN POWER and government help!
Reminds me of the last thing you want to hear... "I am here from the government to help you".  

THE MODERN ‘ENCLOSURE’ TRICKS - SIMPLY HISTORY REPEATED

Australians who are being driven off their lands by modern governments using various ‘legal means’ would do well to look back to what happened to the farm labourers of the 18th and 19th centuries as a result of the English Enclosure Acts. The landless starving were forced into the towns and cities, thus becoming the wage-slaves to the machines of the Industrial Revolution. H.J. Massingham in “The Tree of Life” likens the 18th and 19th century Enclosures to the agrarian reforms of the Roman Empire.

In her Introduction to Massingham’s book, Frances Hutchinson notes: “With the enclosure system, the worldly powers brought about a fundamental alteration in the relationship between the land and society, substituting money for spiritual values in virtually all aspects of social and agricultural relationships. Instead of taking a tithe of the produce of the land, or taking forced tribute in military service, the powers took the very land itself…

If you want a share of the produce of the land which I am creating, you must work for me for money, so that you can buy what you need to survive. Remember, 'If any should not work, neither should he eat'." In this way, the village 'goodman' – the peasant farmer and craftsman - became the hired labourer working for his master, Money.

Jesus is quite clear about the difference between a man who is his own master, answerable only to God, and a hired labourer who does the will of his master only because he is paid to do so. "I shall no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business; I call you friends because I have made known to you everything I have learnt from my Father" (John 15:15). Furthermore, "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money" (Matthew 6:24. Luke 16:13). Yet the modern financial system asserts that working for money is at least as important as serving God. The implications of this changed relationship are enormous…

Abdication of responsibilities:
Since Massingham's day, however, the matter has been studiously ignored, giving rise to the belief that one not only can, but must, serve both God and mammon.
The issue is one of the abdication of responsibility when working for money. The Gospels contain many references to the hiring of servants, it is true, and also to the use of money. However, the master-servant relationship is very clearly spelled out. The servant is only rewarded when the wishes of the master are obeyed: the servant may work for a wage in cash or in kind, being rewarded in return for doing the master's will. The servant does not shoulder responsibility in his own right. Hence, "The hired man, since he is not the shepherd and the sheep do not belong to him, abandons the sheep as soon as he sees a wolf coming, and runs away, and then the wolf attacks and scatters the sheep" (John 10: 12).

On the other hand, when the reward is that of doing the Master's will, the labour becomes its own reward. A money reward on top would make no sense at all. In the modern economy we have the curious notion that one can work as an academic, scientist, theologian or any other salaried servant of the commercial and political powers and retain one's integrity.
The reality is that, however much you may enjoy your work, you are the servant, not the master. If you come into fundamental disagreement with the ethics of the employing organisation, you must condone the immorality or forego your income. A clear understanding of the master-servant relationship is absolutely crucial if we are to understand the nature of our servitude under the money system…”

EDUCATION’S END

Glyn Davis is Vice-Chancellor of the University of Melbourne and gave the 2010 ABC Bayer Lectures. His article “Universities Remain Places Where Freedom and Creativity are Celebrated” (The Weekend Australian, December 11 – 12, 2010, p.6) caused this old man to laugh out loud. The joy continue: “The contemporary university is a place like no other, full of brilliant, passionate and independent – minded people”.

It is difficult to think of something with which I disagree more. I see Davis’ claim as nonsense on stilts and I think the evidence supports my view of the intellectual corruption of the universities over that of Davis. Even a liberal such as Anthony Kronman in “Education’s End: Why Our Colleges and Universities Have Given Up on the Meaning of Life” (Yale University Press, 2007), delivers a stinging refutation.

There is no open mind in the Australian university on any of the important topics discussed by this organisation. In fact, most Australia universities use internet censoring software that block access to all right wing and nationalist sites (“race hate”). Even martial arts sites are blocked (“weapon”). How can this indicate a celebration of freedom? The university as Davis describes it is long dead, a victim of corporate greed from the right and political correctness from the left.  

ANTI-RACISM, APARTHEID AND RAPE

An article at http://alternativeright.com, “Apartheid Made Them Do It” by Richard Spencer has some alarming statistics. Over 1 in 3 South African men have committed rape, according to a study by the Medical Research Foundation.
The study found that over 37% of men had raped a woman, with 7% involved in gang rape. 51% of women reported violence from men and 75% of men said that they committed violence against women. Only 1 in 25 rapes are reported to the police and 2/3 men said that they raped because of a sense of “sexual entitlement”. South African academics blame Apartheid as men that experience trauma in childhood are more likely to rape.

Richard Spencer concluded: “Apparently, the most prosperous and ordered country in Sub/Saharan Africa – one in which poor Blacks from across the continent are trying to emigrate into – represents a great “trauma” for Black South Africans”. One wonders if white sociologists will continue to say that Apartheid is the cause, long after Apartheid has been forgotten and a younger generation of rapists, rape.  

AFTER THE FLOOD, PROFITS FLOOD IN

After the floods the great clean up and rebuilding begins. Now for some racial nationalist predictions about how the Power Elites will capitalise on this most tragic event to make dollars and more dollars. While media types were wailing about the predators who took to boats in Brisbane and Ipswich to “plunder businesses”, insurance corporations were being urged to “show compassion” to policy holders who lost their homes and falsely assumed that their policy covered them for flood.

When has an insurance company ever deviated from the hard logic of contract law? Thousands of home owners will go to the wall. Their land and wrecked houses will be gobbled up by carpet baggers who will make a tidy profit – thank you very much!

However, building Queensland will create yet another skills shortage – making it necessary to boost immigration so that hundreds of thousands of unskilled migrants can come to kick start the economy by consumption. Maybe it’s time for Noah to build his ark again.  

THE MENTAL TRAP OF THE LEFT/RIGHT CONFRONTATION

Below is a news report taken from EagleForum.org a leading ‘pro-family movement’ in the United States. In earlier years the League published education-related articles from this movement. But I think the following article on “Obamacare” highlights the problems that not just Americans have got to face – but we all must face, or civilisation is doomed. Certainly the Obama administration seeks to socialise and centralise all America’s institutions and systems, but so too do western governments everywhere!
What Americans have not grasped is that American governments have been doing just that at least since the 1930s Roosevelt years. The political tactics are also the same everywhere. Play one section of the nation off against the other with the party-political left/right conflict.

But surely it is time Americans recognised and provided genuine answers to the following question: If in this age of technology and automation, where computerised-machines are churning out all the production the nation’s people could possibly need WITHOUT THE NEED OF ALL AVAILABLE HUMAN LABOUR – how are those WITHOUT PAID EMPLOYMENT going to gain access to that abundance?

I realise conservative Americans don’t want to become enmeshed in the socialist-bureaucratic web but they are going to have to rethink their position in the light of the advances within the economic/production systems. For too long their answer was to export, export, export – but for the last century that has led to wars, wars and more wars. In fact, American systems have fed the military/industrial monster for far too long.

The following article reveals the left/right mental bind:
“Cheers for Repeal of ObamaCare” 28/1/2011 by Phyllis Schlafly: “The U.S. House did what its candidates had promised and the voters expected: the House passed 245 to 189 a repeal of ObamaCare, the centrepiece of Socialism. Three Democrats joined every single Republican, with Michele Bachmann (R-MN) and Steve King (R-IA) spearheading the charge.

According to public opinion polls, support for repeal remains strong among the American people despite Obama's prediction that once his favourite bill was enacted into law we would like it. In addition, 200 distinguished economics experts, mostly professors of economics, signed a letter predicting that an implementation of ObamaCare will be a barrier to job growth, inflict us with a crushing debt burden, and is not real health care reform.”

Isn’t it time Mrs Schafley spelt out what is real health care reform for all Americans – not just for those who have work or those who have other sources of financial means? Are there not enough medical doctors or facilities? Or maybe America is short of farmers or manufacturers? What is the problem?
