WHY
FREEDOM IS NOT A SPECTATOR SPORT: CHINA'S GENOCIDE OF TIBETby

The Australian, 29 July, 2005 featured an article
where aging Bob Hawke, former prime minister of Australia "warned" business
leaders that they must change their "condescending" attitude towards
the Chinese if they are to succeed "in the world's biggest market".
Hawke has advised companies seeking to enter the Chinese market. Hawke said that
an attitude of "moral superiority" has to be eliminated. Business leaders
have this attitude because of China's human rights record.
Hawke said: "The
US talks about human rights … we look at how long they were into their industrialisation
(before considering human rights issues and black issues".
Sorry 'silver
hair' its not as simple as that. Consider China's treatment of Tibet. Chairman
Mao's troops, the Chinese Peoples' Liberation Army took over the country 46 years
ago. Today dissidents are executed or clubbed to death. Buddhist nuns are often
sexually tortured. The Chinese are "modernising" the country, building
airports, highways and railways. Tibet is a "strategic buffer" to the
West and a vast store of mineral and energy wealth. Hawke is saying that to make
a few bucks the West should ignore Tibet. On the contrary, Tibet is a living symbol
of China's real ambitions and of the fate which awaits the West if China becomes
No.1.
Remember the lesson of "Pig Iron Bob" Menzies who sold Aussie
steel to the Japanese in the 1930s, only to have it fired back at us in WW II.

THE MYTH OF McCARTHYISMby

Each year in our high schools students study Arthur Miller's
play "The Crucible". The play, on the surface is about the Salem witch
hunt trials in America in colonial days, but as Miller has said, this is just
a metaphor for McCarthyism. According to the Left, America in the late 1940s and
early 1950s was in the grip of a paranoid "Witch Hunt" against Communists.
Senator Joseph McCarthy and the House of UnAmerican Activities Committee falsely
claimed, the Left says, that Communist spies were occupying key positions. Arthur
Miller is cited by our teachers as telling the "truth" about the matter:
"Practically everyone I knew stood within the conventions of the political
left or centre; one or two were
Communist party members, some were fellow-travellers,
and most had a brush with Marxist ideas or organisations".
Miller also
claims: "I have never been able to believe in the reality of these people
being actual or putative traitors any more than I could be, yet others like them
were being fired from teaching or jobs in government or large corporations".
Miller also believes that Hollywood is guilt free as Hollywood "wrote not
propaganda but entertainment … most of it mindless".
Although
this Left propaganda is still fed to high school students the truth is that everything
that Miller proclaims is false. With the opening of the Moscow archives it has
been known for some time that many of the "heroes" of the left of that
period were KGB operatives. Many artists were members of the Communist Party.
The black singer Paul Robson, praised by Miller as a champion of anti-racism,
received the Stalin Prize in 1953 and after the dictator's death he signed a eulogy
which contained the words: "Glory to Stalin. Forever will his name be honoured
and beloved in all lands".
That such mythology is still perpetrated
in our schools through the "teaching" (or indoctrination) of children
through the study of trash such as Miller's "The Crucible", is a disgrace. |
NOT ON MY BEHALF MR. HOWARD!by

John Howard, we are informed, is to receive a US Woodrow Wilson
Award and one of the judging panel was Condoleezza Rice from the Bush camp. No
surprises there. Howard stated he would receive the award "on behalf of all
the Australian people". I want him to know he does not receive it on my behalf.
TOP AWARD FOR (ANOTHER) SERVANT
In a "Letter to the Editor" West Australian, 25/8/05, Mr.Michael
Macaulay of Bayswater, WA. put the matter thus:
"The announcement that
John Howard is the recipient of a top US public service award, namely the highly
coveted Woodrow Wilson Award, has confirmed what one has long suspected - that
the Prime Minister of Australia is clearly a servant of the US.
Australia's
policies are without doubt formulated in Washington and then carried out to the
letter by our "ever grateful for photo opportunities" Prime Minister,
who thrives on the false adulation showered on him by George Bush and members
of his administration.
Section 44 (i) of the Australian Constitution
clearly states that "any person who is under acknowledgment of allegiance,
obedience or adherence to a foreign power, or is a subject or citizen or entitled
to the rights or privileges of a subject or a citizen of a foreign power, shall
be incapable of being chosen or of sitting as a senator or a member of the House
of Representatives.
The Prime Minister's track record of allegiance, obedience
and adherence to the US speaks for itself. His blind obedience to the US has seen
Australia support unprovoked and illegal attacks on two sovereign nations thereby
breaking the Geneva Convention, the United Nations Charter, the ANZUS Treaty and
the Australian Constitution.
Under his leadership, Australia, in support
of the US, has refused to ratify the Kyoto Protocol, declined to sign up for the
International Criminal Court, refused to support a United Nations resolution condemning
Israel's wall and allowed the US to hold two Australians prisoner at Guantanamo
for years without any effort to have them freed.
That's why he has received
this award. He's a good and faithful public servant to the US."

I would have been more specific and said he was a good and faithful servant
of the powerful neocons surrounding - and directing George Bush. |
WHO WAS WOODROW WILSON?Brilliantly
described by Douglas Reed in "The Controversy of Zion"* he was the idealistic
schoolteacher brought to the Presidency in the United States to further the "Grand
Design" of the semi-secret forces responsible for his election. The League
of Nations, forerunner to the United Nations, was promoted by Wilson at the end
of the First World War. It was under his presidency that the (private) Federal
Reserve System was designed and set up to secure a stranglehold on the US financial
system and the economy.
Woodrow Wilson was the creature of these semi-secret
forces which ensured he got elected to carry out their plans. Douglas Reed wrote
he was much impressed by the "uncanny knowledge" displayed by a leading
Zionist of the day, Rabbi Stephen Wise, until he read his Private Papers.
In 1910 Rabbi Wise told a New Jersey audience, "On Tuesday Mr. Woodrow Wilson
will be elected governor of your State; he will not complete his term of office
as governor; in November 1912 he will be elected President of the United States;
he will be inaugurated for the second time as president".
The strategy
and tactics used to get their creature elected were devised by one Edward
Mandell House, Wilson's alter ego; and such tactics and strategies are now commonplace
for political parties. Does the story sound familiar fellow Australian?

THE
AMERICAN PROBLEMEric Butler perceived (O.T.
28/9/79) that with an over exaggerated self righteousness linked with a generous
nature, the American people would prove to be "almost perfect material for
involvement in grandiose and highly idealistic international projects".
"Thomas Jefferson," he wrote, "described the United States as 'a
universal nation pursuing universally valid ideas', while his contemporary, John
Adams, claimed that the United States was destined 'to govern the globe and introduce
the perfection of man'.
"On one hand the
United States made a special contribution to furthering the best features of Western
Civilisation, while on the other hand the enormous wealth" was used as a
base "by international financiers and their associates to work towards the
age-old goal for a World State".
The United States was the base
from which Wall Street international financiers operated to impose Bolshevism
upon the unfortunate peoples of Russia. It was the base from which the attack
on the old British Empire was sustained. It was the base from which blood transfusions
for maintaining the Communist Empire were (and are) financed. The people of the
United States, and their resources, were sucked into disasters like Vietnam -
and now Afghanistan and Iraq.
Perhaps one of the most hopeful developments
in the world crisis is that the American people are increasingly rejecting the
concept of being used to create New World Orders.
But sadly, these powerful
forces have now brought America to her knees (with Australia close behind) while
at the same time building up their next 'centre of power' - Communist China. |
THE SUM OF ALL FEARSby

Gary McKinnon, a British computer engineer, brought the US
defence systems to their knees. From a computer in his bedroom in North London,
McKinnon hacked into the Pentagon army, navy and NASA systems. McKinnon put out
of action Earlestation in New Jersey responsible for the restocking of the Atlantic
Fleet. Surely if there were terrorists out there, they would be doing it McKinnon's
way rather than using planes and bombs. Why then haven't terrorists made use of
cyber-attacks? Is it because terrorists are technically unsophisticated or is
there another reason? Could cyber-terrorism be the shape of the future? |
SUBVERTING THE RULE OF LAWby
Ian Wilson LL.B. Some of Britain's most eminent
judges have warned politicians that they must not undermine the independence of
the judiciary in the "war on terrorism'. Blair had told the judges that he
would renounce part of the European Convention on Human Rights. Lord Carlile of
Berriew, a deputy High Court judge said: "If the government undermines the
judiciary then the judiciary might be tempted to undermine the government. Lord
Ackner said: "The judiciary will oppose attempts to undermine its independence.
These suggestions that we [politicians and judges] are all a team and should pull
together is such rubbish that the judiciary will ignore it". Further conflict
between parliament and the judiciary seems inevitable. |
THE TERRORISM OF MULTICULTURLISMby

We have been waiting a long time to see any strong criticism
of the multicultural madness in the Murdoch press. Perhaps the London bombings
is a turning point. John Stone wrote in an article entitled "One Nation,
One Culture," The Australian 22 July 2005, that what is at fault for
the London bombings is that "successive British governments have persisted
in the multicultural folly that a nation can be built on separate and equal cultures.
Moreover, under Tony Blair in particular, Britain's immigration policies and border
patrols against illegal immigration have become international jokes and now a
national tragedy".
Stone goes on to point out that even those journalists
from the Left, such as Pamela Bone "have questioned the whole basis of our
official multicultural policies". Stone asks: "can we any longer pretend
that our official multicultural policies, introduced by Gough Whitlam and assiduously
pursued by all his successors, are in our national interest?
More
pointedly, how are we to handle our growing self-created Muslim problem?
"Catch the Fire Ministries" was found "guilty" under the Victorian
"Racial and Religious Tolerance Act" for religious vilification of Islam
for making claims, amongst others, that Islam plans to take over the world.
The Australian 27 July 2005, published an article by Daniel Pipes
"Jihadist Motive No Secret" where he states: "The terrorists want
to establish a Muslim world dominated by Islamic law". The terrorists want
"a world dominated by Muslims, Islam and the Sharia… the establishment
of a worldwide caliphate founded on Sharia". The dogma of multiculturalism
and its associated politically correct fear and legal sanctions involved in criticising
cultures, religions and races is permitting terrorism to flourish.
Multiculturalism thus, is a form of terrorism itself. |
MAKE OF IT WHAT YOU WILL

An article tucked away on page 11 of The Australian
8 August 2005, had the headline "Riyadh Warned Britain of Blasts". Saudi
Arabia had warned Britain of an "imminent" terrorist threat a few weeks
before the July London bombings. Calls from two al Qa'ieda operatives were traced
to suspected British terrorists. This warning came four months before the attack.
Meanwhile political correctness still reigns in London. Allegations that police
had been race profiling suspected terrorists to include Asians and Blacks was
rejected by the chief constable of the British Transport Police, Ian Johnston,
who said that this hands the tactics to the terrorists, who, presumably will now
use blonde Anglo Saxon women as suicide bombers.
The reality of the matter
is that the racial aspect is relevant. Denying that is not only political correctness
gone mad - it is an invitation for leaving the terrorist problem unsolved. |
FTA BAD NEWS - US LOBBYISTS 'IN THE MONEY'?There
have already been some big winners out of Australia's free-trade deal with the
United States - American lawyers and lobbyists. Foreign Minister Alexander Downer,
in answer to a question from his Labor counterpart Kevin Rudd, has revealed the
government spent $1.5 million on US-based lobbyists and lawyers to get the deal.
The firm Bockorny Petrizzo Inc was paid $605,409 over two-and-a-half years for
its efforts.
Congress insider magazine The Hill recently named the
firm, and one of its chief lobbyists David Bockorny, as one of the most influential
lobbyists in Washington. Australia paid another $839,343 to the huge law firm
Mayer, Brown, Rowe and Maw over the same two-and-a-half years for its efforts.
The firm, with more than 1,300 lawyers across the US and Europe, is one of the
10 largest law operations in the world.
Another $59,649 was paid to the firm
Covington and Burling for its legal advice and lobbying over a new type of visa
for Australian business people.
Since the trade deal started operation this
year, Australia's trade deficit with the US has worsened. Australian exports fell
$9.4 billion over the 12 months to June this year, while imports from the US jumped
$2 billion to $21.3 billion. The trade deficit now stands at $11.8 billion, the
largest Australia runs with any nation. (Internet report). |

is taking place in front of the world media in the Gaza Strip. It is the staged
evacuation of 8000 Jewish settlers from their illegal settlement homes, and it
has been carefully designed to create imagery to support Israel's US-backed takeover

slightest reason for Israel to send in the army to remove these settlers. The
entire operation could have been managed, without the melodrama necessary for
a media frenzy, by providing them with a fixed date on which the IDF would withdraw

settlers will relocate to other parts of Israel and in some cases to other illegal
settlements in the West Bank handsomely compensated for their inconvenience. Indeed,
each Jewish family leaving the Gaza Strip will receive between $140,000 and $400,000
just for the cost of the home they leave behind. But these details are rarely
mentioned in the tempest of reporting on the "great confrontation" and
"historical moment" brought to us by Sharon and the thieving, murderous
settler-culture he helped create…
Where were the media feeding-frenzies
when the 23,000 Palestinian homes were bulldozed?
Where were the cameramen
in May 2004 in Rafah when refugees twice over lost their homes again in a single
night's raid, able to retrieve nothing of what they owned?
Where were they
when bulldozers and tanks tore up paved streets with steel blades, wrecked the
sewage and water pipes, cut electricity lines, and demolished a park and a zoo;
when snipers shot two children, a brother and sister, feeding their pigeons on
the roof of their home?
When the occupying army fired a tank shell into a
group of peaceful demonstrators killing 14 of them including two children?
Where have they been for the past five years when the summer heat of Rafah makes
life so unbearable it is all one can do to sit quietly in the shade of one's corrugated
tin roof -- because s/he is forbidden to go to the sea, ten minutes' walking distance
from the city center? Or because if they ventured to the more open spaces they
became walking human targets?
And when their citizens resisted, where were
the accolades and the admiring media to comment on the "pluck," the
"will" and "audacity" of these "young people"?
On Tuesday, 16 August, the Israeli daily Haaretz reported that
more than 900 journalists from Israel and around the world are covering the events
in Gaza, and that hundreds of others are in cities and towns in Israel to cover
local reactions.
Were there ever that many journalists in one place during
the past 5 years to cover the Palestinian Intifada?
Where were the 900 international
journalists in April 2002 after the Jenin refugee camp was laid to waste in the
matter of a week in a show of pure Israeli hubris and sadism?
Where were
the 900 international journalists last fall when the Jabalya refugee camp in Gaza
lay under an Israeli siege and more than 100 civilians were killed?
Where
were they for five years while the entire physical infrastructure of the Gaza
Strip was being destroyed?
Which one of them reported that every crime of
the Israeli occupation from home demolitions, targeted assassinations and total
closures to the murder of civilians and the wanton destruction of commercial and
public property- increased significantly in Gaza after Sharon's "Disengagement"
Plan - that great step toward peace - was announced?
Where are the
hundreds of journalists who should be covering the many non-violent protests by
Palestinians and Israelis against the Apartheid Wall?
Non-violent protesters
met with violence and humiliation by Israeli armed forces?
Where are the
hundreds of journalists who should be reporting of the bisection of the West Bank
and the subdivision of each region into dozens of isolated mini-prisons?
Why aren't we being barraged by outraged reports about the Jewish-only bypass
roads?
About the hundreds of pointless internal checkpoints? About the countless
untried executions and maimings?
About the torture and abuse of Palestinians
in Israeli prisons?
Where were these hundreds of journalists when each of
the 680 Palestinian children shot to death by Israeli soldiers over the last 5
years was laid to rest by grief-stricken family members?
The shame
of it all defies words
Now instead report after report announces the "end
to the 38 year old occupation" of the Gaza Strip, a "turning point for
peace" and the news that "it is now illegal for Israelis to live in
Gaza."
Is this some kind of joke?
Yes, it is "illegal
for Israelis to live in the Gaza Strip" as colonizers from another land.
It has been illegal for 38 years. (If they wish to move there and live as equals
with the Palestinians and not as Israeli citizens they may do so.) Jews are retaining
control of the land - a giant penal colony
Sharon's unilateral "Disengagement"
plan is not ending the occupation of Gaza. The Israelis are not relinquishing
control over the Strip. They are retaining control of all land, air and sea borders
including the Philadelphi corridor along the Gaza/Egypt border where the Egyptians
may be allowed to patrol under Israel's watchful eye and according to Israel's
strictest terms.
The 1.4 million inhabitants of Gaza remain prisoners in
a giant penal colony, despite what their partisan leaders are attempting to claim.
The IDF is merely redeploying outside the Gaza Strip, which is surrounded by electrical
and concrete fences, barbed wire, watchtowers, armed guards and motion censors,
and it will retain the authority to invade Gaza on a whim.
Eight thousand
Palestinian workers working in Israel for slave wages will soon be banned from
returning to work. Another 3,200 Palestinians who worked in the settlements for
a sub-minimum-wage have been summarily dismissed without recourse to severance
pay or other forms of compensation. Still others will lose their livelihoods when
the Israelis move the Gaza Industrial Zone from Erez to somewhere in the Negev
desert.
What will it take to get the truth across to people?
To the young woman of Neve Dekalim who can speak her words without batting an
eyelash of embarrassment or shame?
As the cameras zoom in on angry settlers
poignantly clashing with their "brothers and sisters" in the Israeli
army, who will be concerned about their other brothers and sisters in Gaza?
When will the Palestinian history of 1948 and 1967, and of each passing day under
the violence of dispossession and dehumanization, get a headline in our papers?
I am reminded of an interview I had this summer in Beirut with Hussein Nabulsi
of Hizbullah an organization that has had nothing to do with the movement for
Palestinian national liberation whatsoever, but one that has become allied with
those it sees as the real victims of US and Israeli policies and lies. I remember
his tightly shut eyes and his clenched fists as he asked how long Arabs and Muslims
were supposed to accept the accusations that they are the victimizers and the
terrorists. "It hurts," he said in a whispered ardour. "It hurts
so much to watch this injustice every day". And he went on to explain to
me why the Americans and the Israelis with their monstrous military arsenals will
never be victorious." |
